I am now sorry that I didn't take step by step pics, but I will try my best to expain (without having to\u0026nbsp;make another one.)\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n*To make this, I bought three of \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/www.ikea.com\/us\/en\/catalog\/products\/30094629\"\u003Ethese\u003C\/a\u003E from IKEA, but you could do the same thing with a 1X8 piece of wood (It would probably cost less.)\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n*Buy some wood dowels.\u0026nbsp; I purchased mine from Lowe's for a dollar I think.\u0026nbsp; They come in all sorts of sizes.\u0026nbsp; I think I ended up buying either 1\/4\" or 1\/2\" diameter.\u0026nbsp; Just look at the diameter of the dowel and think about how big it could be and still go through the thread or ribbon.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"border: currentColor;\"\u003E\n*I bought a couple of pieces of lathe for 50 cents a piece.\u0026nbsp; (I used it to go around the top and bottom of the box to make it look nicer)\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"border: currentColor;\"\u003E\n*Lastly, I bought a package of bead board from Lowe's.\u0026nbsp; It has a bunch of pieces of bead board in the package for about $11.00 total.\u0026nbsp; \u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"border: currentColor;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"border: currentColor;\"\u003E\nFirst of all, I\u0026nbsp;cut\u0026nbsp;one of the shelves exactly in half.\u0026nbsp; The two halves will be used as the sides and the other two shelves will be used for the top and bottom.\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"border: currentColor;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"border: currentColor;\"\u003E\nSecond, I cut the one of the dowels into three inch pieces for the thread to go on.\u0026nbsp; If you space them 2 inches apart like I did, then you will need 14 of these.\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"border: currentColor;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"border: currentColor;\"\u003E\nBefore you assemble the IKEA shelves into a box, drill holes in the bottom shelf that are the same size as the dowels you bought.\u0026nbsp; IMPORTANT**** the holes should\u0026nbsp;NOT go all the way through.\u0026nbsp; Just drill half way through the board.\u0026nbsp; I put the holes towards the front part of the board so that I would still have room to put the ribbon behind the thread.\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"border: currentColor;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv class=\"separator\" style=\"border: currentColor; clear: both; text-align: center;\"\u003E\n\u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_l-9pk2SV5FI\/TLqKi6TuYEI\/AAAAAAAAEZY\/CtSDEwMhHLg\/s1600\/DSC05489.JPG\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; (I like to use screws just so that it will stay together a little better.\u0026nbsp; Just be careful not to split the wood.\u0026nbsp; If it sounds or feels like it is cracking, back the screw out and try again.\u0026nbsp; It also helps to make sure that you are pushing down with the drill.)\u0026nbsp; After the box is made, add the thread dowels by putting a drop of wood glue into the hole and then putting the dowel in.\u0026nbsp; It should be a tight squeeze.\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"border: currentColor;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"border: currentColor;\"\u003E\nFourth, I drilled holes in the sides for the dowels that would hold my ribbon.\u0026nbsp; Drill competely through the board for this part.\u0026nbsp; This is how the whole thing works.\u0026nbsp; This way, the dowel goes all the way through both sides.\u0026nbsp; When you want to add more ribbon or take one off, just slide it through one side and easy peasy, it works!\u0026nbsp; When you cut the dowel for the ribbon, add two inches to the length of the shelf so that the dowel will hang out the sides.\u0026nbsp; You don't want the dowel to slide out on its own.\u0026nbsp; There is enough room to add three dowels for ribbon.\u0026nbsp; I only added three because I didn't have more ribbon than that.\u0026nbsp; It is nice to know that I can buy more and have a place to store it though :)\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"border: currentColor;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; Just cut to size so that the front piece goes in front of the side pieces.\u0026nbsp; Trust me, it looks better that way.\u0026nbsp; Then use little finishing nails to add it on.\u0026nbsp; The wood isn't very heavy, so it will stay on just fine.\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"border: currentColor;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\nSixth, cut the bead board to size and add to the back.\u0026nbsp; I could have turned the bead board the other way and not had to cut as much, but I like the way it looked with the lines going up and down.\u0026nbsp; (This was all done before I had an electric saw.\u0026nbsp; It was a TON of work!)\u0026nbsp; I also used nails on this part.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nLast, I caulked all of the seams with paintable caulk and then spray painted it.\u0026nbsp; I used a satin black spray paint.\u0026nbsp; I got it for 3 whole dollars.\u0026nbsp; Back\u0026nbsp;then it was navy blue and definitely needed a makeover.\u0026nbsp; I went to the local craft store, Roberts, and found some cute scrapbook paper.\u0026nbsp; All I had to do was to first paint the sides of the frame brown, cut the paper to size, mod podge it on and finally antique the edges with brown ink.\u0026nbsp; And wah-lah!\u0026nbsp; There you have it.\u0026nbsp;
