Spring Candle Holder

After Christmas last year, I was shopping at Shopko with my mom one day and happened upon this beauty.  For $3.00, I knew that I had to buy it and that I could somehow make it pretty.

I know you want one just like it, don't you.

Well, I painted it cream and then using painters tape created the green and yellow lines.  Once the paint was dry, I went over it with a little sand paper.

Next, using some stamps I have from my scrapbooking supplies, I painted the word Spring and then used a flower stamp for the dot over the "i".

I was shopping at Hobby Lobby the other day and came across these darling votive holders.  They are originally $2 each, but all of the spring stuff is 50% off right now.  Score!  They fit perfectly into the holes that were already there.

The grass is just stuff I already had on my mantel and it's just sitting right behind the candle holder.

 See?
Overall, I am pretty pleased with the way that it turned out and especially love the way it brightened up my mantel.
