The 12 Dates After Christmas

For Christmas, my husband and I decided to get a combined gift for each other.  Since we both knew what we were getting, I wanted to give him at least one surprise that I didn't have to spend a lot of money on.  The "12 Dates After Christmas" was an idea I had seen around pinterest and knew that it would be the perfect gift for my husband.

I used my silhouette machine to cut out tags and then just cut out a rectangular piece of white paper for the writing to go on.

I came up with a list of activities that would be fun throughout the year and decided which month they would work in.  I then printed out the poems and glued them to the white paper just with a glue stick.

The embellishments were ones that I found at an American Crafts warehouse sale which worked perfectly for these tags.

I finished it off with some red and white bakers twine and a big red bow to hold it all together then I put it in a box for my husband to open on Christmas day.

When my husband opened it, he told me he thought it was really cute and thoughtful.  Trying to decide what to do on a date is one thing that my husband and I have a hard time of.  He loves that we now have one big date per month planned out.  It gives us something fun to look forward to and plan for throughout the year.

I am sure that any significant other would love this as a gift whether for Christmas, or even for a birthday at any time of the year.  You could adapt it to be "The year of dates" or something like that.

My sister also did this for her husband and she was the one that came up with the clever poems.  Here they are in case you would like to use them for yourself.

On the first date after Christmas let's get the ball rolling
By going out to dinner and a quick game of bowling.

On the second date after Christmas you'll be on my mind
as you search for clues I leave for you to find.

On the third date after Christmas it's a little bit cliche
But dinner and a movie are a nice date anyway.

On the fourth date after Christmas some elementary dating
You'll need to hold my hand as we go roller skating.

On the fifth date after Christmas get ready for some fun
We're going to Trafalga to get a hole in one.

On the sixth date after Christmas I hope it's not a bore
There will be a lot to see on the Parade of Homes tour.

On the seventh date after Christmas sledding would be nice
In place of snow we'll slide down on blocks of ice.

On the eighth date after Christmas there's somewhere big to go
I'll give you a hint: It's a broadway show!

On the ninth date after Christmas we'll spend some time outdoors
We'll make tinfoil dinners and roast some yummy smores.

On the tenth date after Christmas no need to pick a winner
We'll go to several restaurants for our progressive dinner.

On the eleventh date after Christmas get ready to lose
We'll have a group game night with games that you choose.

The twelfth date after Christmas will be quite the sight
We'll eat at "The Roof" and then go see the lights.
