Gifts for our Young Women {Part 1}

About a month and a half ago, we held a special night for our Young Women called Young Women in Excellence.  It was a night to talk about their acheivements and to celebrate them.  We had a nice dinner and a program.  We wanted to incorporate our themes for the year into the night, and so we came up with these blocks for our center pieces.

We made 8 sets (one for each table) and at the end of the night we gave them away to one person from each table.  (The person with the sticker under their chair.)  The girls all seemed to really like them and the best part is that they are so easy to make!

Here's how to make some of your own.

Using a 4X4 post, cut into square blocks.  (Here's a tip.  4X4 posts are actually 3.5X3.5 inches.  So if you want a square, you just need to cut lengths of 3.5 inches.)  You will need 3 blocks per set.

Next, sand and paint each block.  We did cream blocks with black vinyl and black blocks with cream vinyl to add a variety on the tables.  (I don't have a picture of the black ones, sorry.)

Last, I used my silhouette machine to cut out the vinyl into the different words.  You will need:
Be
Prayerful
Positive
True
Grateful
Humble
Smart
Still
Involved
Clean
You will have two blank sides in the end.  It is a great visual reminder for the girls and the leaders who got them.  In case you missed it, here is a link to the "Bee" Necklaces the girls made at the beginning of the year which is another activity involving President Hinckley's Be's.

*If you don't happen to have a vinyl cutting machine, I would be happy to cut the vinyl for you for only $5.00.  Email me if you are interested joniemarie85@gmail.com

Tune in tomorrow for the gift we gave to all of the girls that night!

*update* Here is the link to part 2!
