Scrap Wood Shelves

I am so excited to show you what I have been working on for my daughter Lillie's room.  She LOVES to read so I decided that I should make the books a little more accessible for her.  This is what I came up with.  I hung the shelves extra low so that she could reach the books without a problem on the bottom shelf.  Then the top shelf I hung a little higher so that as she grows she can use the books that are a little more likely to rip.

Remember how I told you I have been playing with my vinyl program?  Lookie here:

And here:

It turned out just like I had envisioned it.
I also brought my rocking chair from when I was  little girl over from my parents house and it goes perfectly in the corner for her to sit and read in.  (I still need to do something to it to get rid of the stickers I put on the seat as a child.)

The best part of this project is that I just used scrap wood so it was pretty much free.  I think I spent maybe $7 on the WHOLE THING!  If anyone is interested in a tutorial, I would be happy to post one.  Just let me know.

Post Edit:
You can find the tutorial here.

Hope you like it!

jonie these are amazing! you so need to tutorial how you made them. i think you should pain the rocking chair white. although it probably is sentimental in that color. :)

I was actually thinking the same thing about painting it. Great minds think alike :) I have been going back and forth between whether I should paint it white or keep it brown though because I like the contrast that it gives. I will for sure post that tutorial for you!

I would LOVE a tutorial! My girls have bunk beds and I wanted to make the exact same shelves for their wall next to their level of the bunk bed so they can read in bed. I've seen them in Pottery Barn but there is no way I can spend that much money. Teach me!

So so cute!! I should make things like that for my little ones! We seem to have books EVERYWHERE but where they belong! Good job! Maybe you could make a really cute seat cushion for the chair. It would cover up the stickers but keep it the cute brown color!

It's everything I dreamed it would be. And more :D I love the little vinyl cut outs. Very cute. Does Lillie actually sit in the chair?

You really should credit Knock Off Wood, where you seem to have gotten the plans.

@ Rebecca
I am flattered that you think they are good enough to be from Knock off Wood. Thanks!

I really love your shelves! Of course us organizers love anything that gets things up off the floor and organizes them. I'd love for you to add this to my link party that I just started.
