Skirt to Hat

A couple of days ago, my sister, Charli, brought home a big box full of clothing that either didn't fit her anymore, she didn't like, or that was already mine and needed to give it back.  In that box, I found this skirt that she wore, but it is now too big for her.  I immediately knew that I needed it.  I asked her if I could cut it up.  She wanted to know why.  I didn't want to tell her because I knew she would want it.  Well, I think you can guess the rest.  I told her I wanted to make a hat, she told me how much she loves hats and that I can't have the skirt unless I make it for her....yada, yada, yada.  And that is where we are today.  I finished the hat for her.

Here is the readers digest version.  I will do a tutorial on how I made it once I get some pictures of her wearing it (my condition for making it for her.)

I took this skirt:

And turned it into this:

She hasn't seen it yet or tried it on.  I am hoping that it fits her.  If not, new hat for me :)

What do you think?  Do you think she'll like it?

This. is. FABULOUS. I have had a big donation box sitting in my bedroom for several months now, because we just haven't gotten around to driving it to the drop-off. I bet I've rifled through it half a dozen times in the past month to pull out this or that to cut up and make into something new! You did a really amazing job on this project!! Inspiring : )
